Main/Central/Duhig Library

Robin Gibson, who recently passed March 28 2014, was the project Architect for the neo-brutalist Central Library at UQ. He was praised as having “…approached the complex needs of modern library planning…” with “…patience, cooperation and fertility of imagination…”. “The consequent design combines immediate practicability with flexibility and expansibility so that whatever form the library needs of future years may take they are unlikely to be impeded by physical considerations.” It was noted that Central Library Stage I was not in itself a permanent solution.
